A Welcome and a Goodbye
A Welcome and a Goodbye
Hail TAC Members, and the world! We have some exciting news! Over the last few days, we have had several changes on the Board of Directions. Mr. Steve Sears our long time P.R Director decided that his time with TAC was at an end, and we wish him the very best! He will still be working closely on our upcoming festival, and as an ordained TAC Gothi. We wish him the very best!
Taking his place, is ambassador Mac McCurdy,
“Hail! My name is Mac Valentine McCurdy, but for spiritual meets I use the name stein i sjøen (stone in the lake). I'm a husband, a father, and a musician. I currently reside in Sacramento, California. I am also one of three chieftains in the clan, Sønner av Allfaren. The clan currently operates online but we are making plans to build a longhouse community in Missouri one day. Until that day, I'm hoping to build a strong local community in Sacramento and extend the kinship to any in the surrounding area. My journey began as a child. I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In my younger years, I was raised Catholic. My parents had a pretty volatile relationship and converted to Christianity. The faith did nothing to solve their problems although they do remain married to this day. While in the Christian church, I felt very disconnected and isolated. I never felt like I belonged. Eventually, I just stopped going and stopped believing. As I said, I'm a musician; so I spent my twenties living the sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll life. Although it was a very unstable part of my life, I will never regret it. It brought me to discovering my ancestors and brought me to Asatru. I moved to California in my early thirties and have been living with the Gods ever since. I strongly believe that our path is to seek knowledge, live with honor, and honor our ancestors. The more we learn, the more we must adapt as we will be more responsible. Every morning I hail the Gods and bring my focus to being an honorable man. At the end of every day, I reflect on my actions. Was I an honorable man? Did my life reflect my beliefs, and did I practice the Nine Noble Virtues? As we reconstruct our faith, we must ground ourselves in our history but adapt and move forward with the future. It is my hope to build strong units and a strong community in my area by celebrating the holidays, conducting blots, holding ceremonies, and having study groups. Our faith is very family/community oriented and we need that to be connected and thrive. Being a lone practitioner can often lead one to lose the genuine heart of the faith. By coming together, I believe we will not only honor the Gods, wights, and our ancestors, but also keep them active in our lives.”
We know that he is going to do a great job, and serve the community well!
